You may not want to talk about it, but a yeast infection is something that cannot be left alone. Whether you are just suspecting that you may have one, or can recognize the symptoms right away, a yeast infection is something that must be treated immediately. Here are some tips to help you deal with it.
Stay away from anything tight. Tight underwear, tight jeans and tight pantyhose can all cause excessive moisture and sweating. They also increase your body temperature, which makes it a fertile ground for bacteria growth that can lead to a yeast infection. Instead, wear loose fighting clothing when at all possible.
Avoid wearing underwear while you are at home. Your body needs room to breathe. Yeast infections are more common in the heat. You may feel tempted to wear underwear out of habit. At the very least, however, you should try to begin sleeping without it. Doing so will make a yeast infection less likely to occur.
Don't douche. Your vagina produces natural beneficial bacteria, which help fend off harmful types. Douching removes all bacteria, which can allow harmful types to get a foothold and take up residence. Douching can also disrupt your body's natural PH balance, leading to irritation. Normal bathing and hygiene is all your body needs to stay fresh and clean.
Make sure that if you sweat a lot or work out at the gym, you always take a change of clean, dry clothes with you. Never sit around in sweaty gym clothes or a wet bathing suit. By keeping your body dry and out of wet/sweaty clothes, you are preventing any yeast infections.
If you suffer from regularly occurring yeast infections, think about increasing your consumption of yogurt. Yogurt has probiotics and cultures that give you healthier vaginal flora. Eating just a bowl of yogurt each day can help fight any infection and keep you healthier.
Add a couple cups of apple cider vinegar with your daily bathwater and you'll quickly enjoy the medical benefits. Vinegar is good at balancing natural pH levels which keeps yeast growth at bay. Avoid soaking in the bath for too long. If you do not want to take a bath, douche with a mix of warm water and vinegar.
One of the big enemies of yeast is garlic. As a home remedy, there is nothing better. Do not use raw garlic, but buy some garlic tablets and insert into the vagina every couple of hours for some soothing relief. Read the label of the garlic tabs and only use the ones that are pure and natural.
Stay away from skinny jeans. Tight fitting pants might look and feel great. Unfortunately, they can also cause yeast infections. Try to avoid them. Instead, wear something thin and airy. You need to give yourself room to breathe. Keeping your genitals too tightly confined can create the perfect conditions for a yeast infection.
Use each of the tips laid out here to treat your yeast infection. Some of them may be more effective for you than others, so make sure you try all of them. A yeast infection can be something you do not want to talk about, but at least be sure to treat it.
